Weights are one of those items where it seems that paying more money than necessary is a complete waste of time, so it wouldn’t hurt your training to buy cheap dumbbells right?. Let’s think about that for a second.
You want some weights for your home gym. You don’t want to pay the earth because, like everyone, you’re on a budget. What benefit will you get from expensive weights?
And will this make your muscles bigger? Will it make bigger muscles easier to create? Probably not, although nicer equipment can motivate to some degree and that’s worth something.
In essence, although cheap dumbbells may not be quite as good as some of the more expensive ones, the different is so slight as not to be noticeable.
And the simple truth remains…
Using even the worst dumbbells in the world is infinitely better than using no dumbbells at all.
Not having any weights can be an excuse. In the same way that people say, “I can’t join a gym, it’s too expensive, I’ll stay overweight and unhappy.”
If you have no money, buy some cheap dumbbells and research some programs and build yourself up sensibly and inexpensively.
Here are my recommended
Cheap Dumbbells
The Cap Barbell 40-Pounds Cement Dumbbell Set
The beauty of this little set is that it’s made with cement, making the age old problem of rust redundant.
And I also vote for the
Cap Barbell 40-Pound Dumbbell Set
It’s no surprise that both are the Cap brand, as I really like them and I think they offer phenomenal value for money.
If you fall into one of the following categories:
- Want to tone your upper body
- Need to lose a little weight
- Concerned that you’re losing your hard edge
- Don’t want to join a gym for whatever reason
- Are building a home gym
Then I will heartily recommend some cheap dumbbells as one of the basics of your plan.
